Designing for Equity Deeper Learning Professional Development Fellowship

Prof. Lindy Johnson (School of Education) works with Lancaster County Public Schools (LCPS), an under-resourced rural district, serving 1,200 diverse students across three schools. This project provides LCPS with sustainable tools to develop aligned curriculum, equitable teaching strategies, and community-based assessments while ensuring the district builds on its academic progress in a post-pandemic world. The Center for Innovation in Learning Design at William & Mary School of Education has designed and implemented a professional development program for LCPS. We estimate that 750 students will benefit directly from their teachers’ participation, and over 1,100 from the curriculum leads’ work with other division teachers.
