About
York County Children and Family Services offers free educational and family support services to children 3-5 years old and their families to promote children's school readiness. The program serves children who may be in foster care and may be low-income, at-risk, homeless, disabled, military dependents, abused/neglected, and receive public assistance. Volunteers will assist program staff by assisting teachers in classrooms, reading stories to young children, engaging in educational activities and working with children needing extra assistance, and assisting with providing behavior management interventions. Opportunities are available to facilitate parent training, coordinate special events and activities (e.g. onsite field trips, parent-child activities, field day, yoga, etc.), and assist in completing health and educational screenings (e.g. hearing, vision, dental, height & weight, social-emotional, and developmental screenings).
