Arc of Greater Williamsburg

About

The Arc of Greater Williamsburg has proudly served adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in our greater Williamsburg community since 1976. Special education ends at age 22. ÒThe Arc is there when the school bus stops coming.Ó For over 40 years we have provided support services in four program areas: Arts & Culture; Adapted Wellness/Fitness; Self-Advocacy/Lifelong Learning; and Social/Recreational Therapy. From these programs we conduct 8-10 activities each month, in the evening, and provide door to door van transportation. Our programs are free and there is a nominal charge for our transportation services. Our monthly programs also provide much needed respite time for families and caregivers. In 2016, we also established a four day per week Day Support Program called ÒArc of Abilities.Ó The day program consists of continuing education, life skills training, and vocational training. The day program is open to clients who are currently on a waitlist for a Medicaid waiver, and have no other options for day support. We a dependent on fabulous volunteers and the generosity of donors. For more information please contact us at 757-229-3535. Please like us on Facebook.com/thearcgw.
